By Porzio Life Sciences

Oregon Senate Bill 763 (“S.B. 763”), which was enacted during the 2021 Oregon legislative session, requires pharmaceutical sales representatives to obtain a license from the Department of Consumer and Business Services (“Department”) before marketing or promoting pharmaceutical products in the state. Licenses expire at the end of the calendar year in which they are issued. Representatives who conduct business for fewer than 15 days per calendar year are not required to obtain a license.

Initial applicants must complete an educational course of at least 10 hours, while licensees must complete at least 5 hours of continuing education before license renewal. Directions for locating courses can be found on the Department’s website here

The license fee is $750 per calendar year. The Department’s online licensing center can be found here. Furthermore, a disclosure log must be maintained by license holders documenting their interactions with healthcare providers; 2022 logs must be submitted by April 1, 2023.
